Katie Fricas is a cartoonist, editor, and library worker in New York City. She has been celebrating her first graphic novel, Checked Out, since its release last year by Drawn & Quarterly in May 2025. She writes and draws narrative nonfiction and short story comics for various publications (and for fun) and is currently co-editing Gay Genius, an anthology of queer underground comics, with Mannie Murphy for Fantagraphics, out in March 2027. She also copy edits for Dopamine Books, an imprint of Semiotext(e) and is a catsitter.
