Taina Cunion (she/her) is an Afro-Puerto Rican illustrator living in Virginia who enjoys making comics, zines, children’s books, illustrations, scribbles, and doodles. Her work focuses on a variety of topics including history, folklore, mental health, and everyday life. She has worked as an illustrator with self-published children’s book authors and has produced portraits of celebrities, athletes, and famous female activists for various anthologies of Rebel Girls. Taina believes well-written stories are tools for empathy, so she uses her artistic voice to highlight people of color, their struggles, achievements, and non-mainstream history.
