About the workshop:
Let’s make trans comics! Artist Al Benbow will talk about some of their favorite trans comics and cartoonists, discuss trans character-building, and different ways of exploring trans identity and experiences in comics. At the end of the workshop, participants create a trans character. No specific skills required, newcomers to comics are totally welcome!

This is a two-hour online workshop on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 7-9pm EST (4-6pm PST). The class will be recorded and shared with all registered attendees.
About the teacher:
Al Benbow is a graphic designer, illustrator, and comic artist. Their work, which usually centers around their identity as a nonbinary butch lesbian, has won multiple awards, and their comic “A Dyke Like Me” appeared in Issue 004 of Transmuted. Their graphic memoir about getting top surgery, Unbinding, will be published with Oni Press in 2027. Born and raised in the Midwest, they now live in Massachusetts with their partner, their cat, and their four-year-old goldfish.
