Pleasure is not gratuitous, but rather a tool for liberation. Let’s make zines about it!
About the workshop:
This workshop will be a chance for folks with marginalized identities to explore sex positivity and the power of pleasure. Through a short presentation about zine-makers creating sex-positive works and a hands-on activity where everyone makes their own mini-zine, participants will learn that their pleasure is not gratuitous, but rather a tool for liberation. Whether you’re a seasoned sex educator, or you’re just beginning to unlearn the culture of sex negativity, come join us for some low-stakes reflection and creation!
Date:
This is a 2-hour online workshop on Saturday, August 23rd at 10am-noon PST/1pm-3pm EST. The workshop is capped at 25 participants. Everyone who signs up will receive a Zoom link via email and then a recording of the workshop afterwards.
What you need:
• Bring writing and drawing materials. We’ll be doing some freewriting and then drawing short comics. You can work with any tools you enjoy, like watercolor, digital drawing, or colored pencils.
About the teacher:
Caitlin Chow-Ise (they/she) is the queer, trans, mixed Chinese femme behind The S3x Talk. The S3x Talk is where sex education, creativity, and social justice meet. Caitlin is passionate about QTBIPOC pleasure and the intersection between art and justice. Check out thes3xtalk.com for more!

To make them affordable, all of our classes and workshops are offered at a sliding scale cost.
Supporter - This payment level pitches in a little extra toward the teacher’s income and helps pay artists to create new comics at Crucial. Thanks for your support!
Standard - This is the basic rate for the class, which covers our costs.
Discount - We want people of all income levels in our classes, so choose this rate if you paying the standard rate is a stretch for you.
We set aside three spots in each class to be offered for free to people who would find it a hardship to pay the discount rate for any reason. These free spots are first-come, first-serve. If you would like to take a class for free, please send us a short email about yourself, what class you would like to take, and why. If a free spot is still available, we’ll send you a discount code to register for free! Email: editors@crucialcomix.com
