Mama Is…

A mother plays a lot of roles.

Mama Is… is a comic about how moms play so many roles for their kids. The comic is created using watercolor washes of blue, yellow and pink and pencil for linework. Text: Mama Is… Description: It’s morning. Mama is in bed, just woken up.

Text: a bouncy house, Description: Two kids are jumping on the bed right next to their mama.

Text: a napkin, Description: The younger kid and mama are eating breakfast. The kid is wiping his face on mama’s shirt.

Text: a thermometer. Description: Mama’s hand is on the older kid’s forehead, checking his temperature.

Text: Mama is a taxi, Description: Mama is sprinting forward while carrying the younger kid in her arms. Both mom and the kid have backpacks on.

Text: a floatie, Description: Mama and the older kid are in the water, mama is helping the kid to float.

Text: a diving wall, Description: Kids are arguing with each other. Mama is in between them, separating them from each other.

Text: a white noise machine. Mama says: Shhhh Shh Shh Shhhh Shhhh Shhhhh Description: The kids are falling asleep in their bunk bed. Mama is tiptoeing out of the room.

Text: Alone… Description: Mama is in bed. Happy, relaxed, smiling.

Text: But… Description: Morning. Closeup of mama’s face, she has woken up by some noise.

Text: Not for long! Description: The kids come into mama’s room to be next to her. There is a sweet hug. Kids fall back asleep, mama is awake.
